Faisal Vawda reveals key individuals involved in Arshad Sharif’s killing

(Web Desk Monitoring) — Former federal minister and senator Faisal Vawda has alleged that PTI founder Imran Khan was aware that “something big” was going to happen before journalist Arshad Sharif was killed. He clarified that Imran did not know Arshad Sharif would be murdered. Vawda also accused Murad Saeed and former ISI DG Gen (r) Faiz Hameed of being involved in the journalist’s killing.

During an appearance on Geo News’ programme Capital Talk on Monday night with Hamid Mir, Vawda claimed that Imran Khan had knowledge of something significant prior to Sharif’s murder, though not specifically the murder itself. He alleged that both Faiz and Murad Saeed were aware of the plans, claiming that Murad knew as early as August that someone had been hired abroad for the murder.

Vawda referenced an audio clip, aired during Capital Talk, in which Imran Khan is allegedly heard discussing protests and a long march, saying he would make an announcement on October 30 or Sunday. Vawda noted that Arshad Sharif was killed on October 23, 2022.

He claimed the audio was recorded at Banigala and could be verified forensically. Vawda added that he had informed Imran about a previous assassination attempt on his life. He further claimed that in the aftermath of the chaos, martial law would have been declared, benefiting Faiz Hameed. According to Vawda, Imran Khan had sought to protect both Murad Saeed and Faiz Hameed following Arshad Sharif’s death.

Vawda also alleged that he had been in contact with Arshad Sharif, claiming Faiz Hameed had facilitated Sharif’s departure from Dubai by appointing someone named Arsalan Satti for the task. Vawda further implicated two unnamed women in the operation.

He hinted that more revelations were to come, emphasizing the importance of understanding who benefitted from the murder and who was sacrificed. Vawda warned that Imran and Faiz’s fates were tied to Murad Saeed, whose arrest would have serious consequences for both men.

In Vawda’s opinion, former general Faiz Hameed would not only face court-martial but also be “sentenced and punished” regardless of whether he becomes a state witness. Vawda claimed that his own disqualification had been orchestrated by Faiz Hameed and alluded to extensive corruption linked to the former intelligence chief.

Earlier in the show, Vawda accused PTI of orchestrating the May 9 events and held Ali Amin Gandapur’s speech at a PTI rally in Islamabad as proof of the party’s involvement. He stated that Gandapur now holds responsibility for Imran Khan’s life and claimed there was widespread knowledge of corruption involving Gandapur and Faiz Hameed.

Vawda suggested that the Election Commission of Pakistan has grounds to disqualify certain PTI members due to asset discrepancies. He also noted that with Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s return to politics, PTI leaders are becoming increasingly politically isolated.
