ISLAMABAD (Daily Point) — The discussion sparked between the general public regarding the Pak-Iran conflict as the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) and the government have clarified that Pak-Iran tension would not affect the general elections slated for February 8 and its schedule.

This was reported by local newspaper The News. Amidst border tensions between Pakistan and Iran, the spokesperson for the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) affirmed the commission’s unwavering commitment to conducting elections as scheduled. The spokesperson dismissed any notion of reconsidering the election date due to the geopolitical tensions, emphasizing that the ECP is diligently preparing for the elections set for February 8.

Information Minister Murtaza Solangi echoed this sentiment, asserting that the Pakistan-Iran tension would not impact the electoral schedule. He expressed confidence that the situation between the two nations would de-escalate, dismissing claims that some elements, including certain media outlets, were attempting to use various excuses to advocate for a delay in the elections. Solangi assured the public that the elections would proceed as planned on February 8.

Addressing concerns about security requirements for the elections, the information minister stated that the government is committed to providing the necessary security measures to ensure a peaceful electoral process. He unequivocally stated that there is no intention of deviating from the scheduled general elections, reiterating the government’s assurance that they will be held on the announced date.
