LAHORE (Daily Point) — Despite the recent launch of Apple’s iPhone 15, older models maintain their dominance in the Pakistani smartphone market.
The iPhone 12, renowned for its sturdy design, user-friendly interface, and diverse App Store offerings, stands out as a preferred choice among consumers.
However, the once-affordable iPhone 12 has now assumed the status of a luxury item in Pakistan, primarily due to the imposition of various taxes by regulatory bodies like the PTA. Customs Duty, Regulatory Duty, Sales Tax, and Federal Excise Duty have collectively contributed to a significant increase in the overall cost of owning an iPhone 12.
The PTA tax breakdown for iPhone 12 models is as follows:
- iPhone 12 Pro Max: Rs134,825 with Passport; Rs160,958 with CNIC.
- iPhone 12 mini: Rs101,525 with Passport; Rs124,328 with CNIC.
- iPhone 12 Pro: Rs129,823 with Passport; Rs155,455 with CNIC.
- iPhone 12: Rs113,665 with Passport; Rs137,682 with CNIC.
Despite these soaring prices, the affinity for Apple products remains steadfast in Pakistan. Consumers continue to prioritize the quality, design, and features that have established Apple as a global tech giant. Despite the financial hurdles, the demand for iPhones, particularly the iPhone 12, remains resilient.
