Free travel facility for students resumed in Punjab

LAHORE (Daily Point) — The interim government of Punjab has chosen to resume free travel services for students on both Metro Buses and Orange Line Trains, citing the challenging weather conditions.

Caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi has specifically instructed officials to resume this initiative on the two major public transportation projects.

This revival allows students up to class XII to avail themselves of free travel on all Metro Buses and the Orange Line Train throughout the duration of the summer vacation. Notably, in response to escalating oil prices last year, the provincial government had initially introduced free public transport for students.

However, just before the commencement of winter vacations, the provincial government opted to suspend the service. Now, the free travel facility has been reinstated once again and will persist until the conclusion of the summer vacations.

It’s crucial to mention that students can access the complimentary bus service only if they are in uniform and carry their school or college identity cards.
