Italy has initiated visa services in Lahore, as announced by Augusto Palmeiri, the First Secretary at the Italian Embassy. Palmeiri disclosed plans to extend these services to other major cities in Pakistan soon.
These revelations came during a meeting with traders at the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) on Wednesday. Present at the meeting were LCCI President Kashif Anwar, Senior Vice President Zafar Mahmood Chaudhry, and executive member Chaudhry Khadim.
Palmeiri emphasized the importance of strengthening ties between Italy and Pakistan, both in terms of relations and business ventures. He highlighted the potential for substantial growth in bilateral trade, setting a target of $5 billion. Anwar expressed the chamber’s interest in renewing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed with the Italian Embassy in 2018.
He underscored Italy’s economic significance for Pakistan, noting its position as one of the largest economies in the European Union, with a GDP exceeding $2 trillion.
