(Daily Point) — PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi engaged in discussions with Shaheen Shah Afridi in an effort to navigate through the recent controversy surrounding alleged statements attributed to the cricketer.
Sources close to the matter disclosed that Naqvi, also serving as the interior minister, confirmed the meeting held at the Army School of Physical Training in Kakul, Abbottabad, without divulging specific details.
Acknowledging the Pakistan Army’s prompt organization of an intensive fitness camp, Naqvi praised the players’ commitment during the training sessions. The controversy arose following the announcement of Babar Azam’s reinstatement as the white-ball captain, which reportedly triggered frustration from Afridi, who felt blindsided by the decision.
Despite contemplating a detailed response, Afridi was advised against addressing the issue publicly by the PCB. It was anticipated that Afridi would voice his concerns during the meeting with Naqvi, who was also expected to discuss the team’s future plans with both Babar and Shaheen.
