(Web Desk) — Senior journalist Imran Riaz Khan faced travel restrictions at Islamabad airport on Monday when officials from the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) prevented him from boarding a flight to Saudi Arabia for Hajj.
According to the local media reports, despite the Islamabad High Court’s (IHC) earlier permission granted in May for his travel, citing reasons undisclosed by the FIA, Khan was halted at the airport.
The IHC had ruled in favor of Khan in a case where he contested his inclusion in the Exit Control List. Chief Justice Aamer Farooq had granted him permission to travel abroad during the hearing, after learning that the FIA had recommended his name for the no-fly list. Khan has now expressed intent to challenge the FIA’s actions in court once again, seeking redress for being barred from traveling.
