(Web Desk Monitoring) — A photo circulating on social media shows the Pakistan International Airline (PIA) office in Amsterdam, Netherlands, decorated with an LGBTQ+ flag.
This has led to speculation that the national carrier is endorsing the LGBTQ+ community.
However, PIA spokesperson Abdullah Khan clarified that this is not the case. The office, which has been closed since 2018, is not involved in the display. Khan explained that the LGBTQ+ flag was put up by the municipal government of Amsterdam as part of the city’s queer festival, Amsterdam Pride, which runs from July 22 to August 4 each year.
Khan further supported this by providing additional photos and videos of the street where the office is situated. He pointed out that larger flags in the area featured the municipality’s monograms and did not reflect PIA’s values.
Looking ahead, Khan revealed that PIA had leased the premises to another organization. This new tenant plans to remove all PIA branding and logos from the building following renovations.
