(Web Desk) — The Henley Passport Index has revealed the world’s most powerful passports for 2024, with Singapore maintaining its position as the leading travel document.

According to CNN, Singapore’s passport continues to hold the top spot, offering visa-free access to an impressive 195 destinations.

The Henley Passport Index, co-created by Henley & Partners, has been assessing global travel freedoms across 227 countries and territories for nearly two decades, utilizing exclusive data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA).

This year’s rankings see Japan, Germany, France, Italy, and Spain sharing the second position, each providing visa-free access to 192 destinations. Following them in third place are South Korea, Sweden, Finland, Austria, Ireland, Luxembourg, and the Netherlands, with access to 191 destinations.

The United Kingdom, along with New Zealand, Norway, Belgium, Denmark, and Switzerland, is ranked fourth, allowing travel to 190 destinations. Australia and Portugal share the fifth spot, offering access to 189 destinations.

The United States has fallen to eighth place, with visa-free access to 186 destinations, while Afghanistan holds the position for the weakest passport, allowing visa-free travel to only 26 countries—the lowest score in the index’s history.

  7. Canada, Czechia, Hungary, and Malta (187 destinations)
  8. United States (186 destinations)
  9. Estonia, Lithuania, and United Arab Emirates (185 destinations)
  10. Iceland, Latvia, Slovakia, and Slovenia (184 destinations)
