(Web Desk Monitoring) — Imran Khan, the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has expressed his willingness to engage in dialogue with the Pakistan Army, provided that the military appoints a representative for negotiations.

He clarified that his previous remarks about the army were not accusations but rather constructive criticism, which he believes is a fundamental aspect of a democratic society.

In a conversation with journalists at the Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi, Khan likened the army’s behavior to that of a “misbehaving child,” suggesting that criticism is essential for improvement. He emphasized that he has never accused the army of wrongdoing but has simply voiced his opinions, highlighting the importance of holding institutions accountable.

Addressing recent comments about his stance towards the army, Khan reiterated that his remarks were purely critical and not meant to undermine the institution. He argued that the army, like any other entity, is not beyond scrutiny and should be open to criticism.

Khan pointed to historical events, mentioning General Zia ul-Haq’s role in the execution of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and General Yahya Khan’s responsibility for the fall of Dhaka, questioning whether criticism should be silenced when the army’s actions are oppressive.

He also expressed skepticism about negotiating with representatives of the “Establishment,” specifically mentioning figures like Mohsin Naqvi and the SIFC. Khan asserted that there is an undeclared martial law in the country, with Naqvi acting as a representative of the Establishment. He revealed that he had authorized Mahmoud Khan Achakzai to negotiate on his behalf but remains open to dialogue if the other side appoints a representative.

Khan made it clear that he would never negotiate with Mohsin Naqvi, whom he accused of mistreating PTI members and being involved in the death of a “shadowy figure.” He warned that Naqvi would eventually face the consequences of his actions.

In related developments, Khan is preparing to approach the court to prevent being handed over to the army, and he intends to file a case against the Rangers. His sister, Aleema Khan, has also stated that Imran Khan desires the army to remain neutral.
