(Web Desk Monitoring) — In the ongoing “honey trap case” involving renowned playwright Khalilur Rehman Qamar, one of the suspects, Amna Urooj, has accused Qamar and another individual, Hassan Shah, of blackmailing her.

The allegations emerged during Urooj’s appearance in the anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Lahore, where her physical remand was extended by two days.

Urooj testified that Shah was complicit in the crime and asserted that she was being falsely implicated. She stated, “I did not take any money. Hassan Shah has also circulated my video. Hassan Shah and Khalilur Rehman have blackmailed me.” Qamar’s lawyer countered these accusations by defending his client’s character, describing him as a pious individual.

The ATC judge responded skeptically to the defense, questioning, “A pious man would usually be praying Tahajjud (pre-dawn prayer) at 4 am, so what kind of pious man is this?”

The case revolves around an incident reported in a first information report (FIR) filed at the Sunder Police Station. According to the FIR, Qamar was kidnapped in the early hours of July 16 from Lahore’s Bahria Town. It alleges that a group of seven armed men forcibly entered a house where Qamar had been invited by a woman for a purported drama production meeting. The intruders reportedly tortured Qamar and robbed him at gunpoint, taking away a mobile phone worth approximately Rs150,000, a wristwatch valued at Rs100,000, and cash exceeding Rs271,000. The FIR charges the suspects under sections 365 (kidnapping or abducting with intent secretly and wrongfully to confine a person) and 395 (punishment for dacoity) of the Pakistan Penal Code.

The Organized Crime Unit of Lahore Police recently apprehended the final two suspects in the case, including the alleged mastermind, Hassan Shah, and his accomplice, Muhammad Rafiq. In his confessional statement, Rafiq revealed that Qamar did not visit Urooj’s house for a casting call, as previously claimed. Instead, he asserted that Qamar went to Amna Ilyas’s house with “malicious intent.”

Rafiq further alleged that Shah orchestrated the scheme, recording an objectionable video of Qamar and Urooj, which was subsequently leaked on social media.

The police have confirmed that the investigation is ongoing, with the prime suspect in custody at the Organized Crime Unit. All 12 individuals involved, including a female accomplice, have been arrested in connection with the case.
