(Web Desk) — The Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) has submitted a request to the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) for another hike in the power tariff, proposing an increase of Rs2.63 per unit.

NEPRA will convene today to consider the CPPA’s request, which is related to the June fuel price adjustment.

Initially, the CPPA had sought an increase of Rs2.10 per unit, but the request was revised to Rs2.63 per unit. According to the submission, the electricity generation mix included 11.06% from local coal, 1.95% from fuel oil, 35.13% from water, and 8.66% from gas.

Despite the request for a tariff increase, representatives from the power division have stated that there will be no increase in electricity costs and that bills will be lower than those in June. Additionally, 18.10% of electricity production was sourced from LNG imports, while 14.85% came from nuclear fuel.
