LAHORE (Daily Point) — In the midst of heightened political tension in Pakistan, anticipation builds for the outcome of the general elections scheduled for February 8.
Recent decisions by the country’s top electoral authority have cast a shadow over the beleaguered party, raising questions about the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) standing in the upcoming elections.
Amidst speculation about the PTI’s chances in the 2024 elections following legal challenges and cases against the former prime minister, Imran Khan, opinions among experts remain divided. While some believe the party faces slim prospects after the court order, others argue that it cannot be entirely discounted.
Artificial intelligence platforms, including Bard, ChatGPT, and Bing AI, were consulted to provide insights into the potential election outcome.
Bard, a Google AI platform, deemed it “impossible” to predict the winner with certainty, citing Pakistan’s highly dynamic political landscape. Factors such as the performance of the PML-N government, political alliances, coalitions, emergence of new political actors, and unforeseen events were highlighted as influential elements. Despite legal troubles, Bard suggested that Imran Khan remains a strong contender, while the PML-N faces the challenge of building on its achievements and addressing voter fatigue. The AI platform also noted the potential for the Pakistan Peoples Party to seek alliances to expand its national reach and emphasized the role of smaller parties as potential “kingmakers.”
ChatGPT, in its response, expressed apologies for its inability to foresee future events, emphasizing the complexity of election results influenced by political developments, public opinion, and unforeseen events. It advised relying on reliable sources of information for the latest developments.
Bing AI Chat took a cautious stance, deeming it too early to make predictions. Acknowledging the election date, it identified PTI, PML-N, and PPP as the three major parties. The AI emphasized the difficulty of predicting election outcomes several years in advance, considering the multitude of factors that can influence results.
The AI platforms unanimously underscored the unpredictability of the political landscape, urging observers to focus on evolving political dynamics, major party stances, and trends in public opinion rather than fixating on a single victor.
