(Web Desk) – Pakistan’s star javelin thrower, Arshad Nadeem, advanced to the finals of the Javelin Throw event at the Paris Olympics on Tuesday.
Nadeem secured his place in the medal contention with a powerful throw exceeding the 84-meter minimum qualifying mark during his qualification round. His first attempt reached an impressive distance of 86.59 meters, instantly earning him a spot in the finals and highlighting his exceptional talent.
Athletes who achieve a throw of at least 84 meters qualify for the final round, where they will compete for Olympic medals. Nadeem, at 27 years old, remains Pakistan’s last and strongest hope for a medal, as six of the seven athletes representing the country have been eliminated from their respective events.
This achievement marks Nadeem’s second consecutive Olympic final appearance, following his commendable fifth-place finish in Tokyo. The medal round for the Javelin Throw will take place on August 8 at 11:25 PM Pakistan Standard Time (PST).
Nadeem has a history of success, having won a silver medal at the World Championships last year and a gold medal at the Commonwealth Games 2022. His gold medal throw of 90.18 meters made him the first Pakistani athlete since 1962 to win gold in the competition.
