LAHORE (Daily Point) — Punjab’s Interim Chief Minister, Mohsin Naqvi, has opted to postpone the enforcement of the proposed rise in driving license fees, offering citizens a brief respite.
Originally slated for today, the fee hike will now be effective from January 16, affording residents additional time.
Expressing the urgency for citizens to capitalize on this extension, Chief Minister Naqvi urged them to acquire their driving licenses at the existing rates. Concerned about the surge in unlicensed driving, he emphasized compliance with regulations before the new deadline, cautioning that failure to do so could lead to legal consequences, potentially including imprisonment.
Recognizing the pressing nature of the matter, Chief Minister Naqvi directed relevant authorities to expedite the license issuance process, underscoring the need to streamline procedures for swift acquisition.
The decision to delay the fee increase has been welcomed by residents caught off guard by the initial implementation date. The extra time offers a chance for those without licenses to avoid the impending fee surge.
Chief Minister Naqvi stressed the importance of responsible driving behavior and adherence to traffic regulations. He highlighted that obtaining a driving license is not merely a legal obligation but a pivotal step in ensuring road safety for all citizens.
