(Web Desk Monitoring) — A session court has issued a non-bailable arrest warrant for Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Ali Amin Gandapur, in connection with allegations of possessing illegal weapons and alcohol.
The warrant was issued after the court rejected Gandapur’s plea for exemption from appearing in court on medical grounds. The Station House Officer (SHO) of Bara Kahu police station has been instructed to arrest Gandapur and present him in court by tomorrow.
The case stems from an incident on October 30, 2016, when Gandapur was allegedly involved in an illegal gathering and defied orders issued by the District Magistrate. The court is now seeking clarification on several key aspects, including Gandapur’s presence and actions during the incident.
The charges against Gandapur, a leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), were filed after the recovery of five Kalashnikov rifles, a pistol, six magazines, a bulletproof vest, three teargas shells, and bottles of alcohol from his vehicle in October 2016. At the time, Gandapur was serving as a provincial minister in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and was charged under illegal arms and anti-drug laws.
