(Web Desk) — Dania Shah, widow of the late Pakistani TV personality Dr Aamir Liaquat Hussain, and her new husband, Hakeem Shahzad Ahmed, are seeking government protection after receiving a series of alarming death threats.
The couple has filed a petition in the Multan High Court, claiming they have been receiving threatening phone calls from international numbers. These calls reportedly demand that Shahzad divorce Dania, with the ominous warning that failure to comply will result in fatal consequences.
Despite notifying authorities about the threats and requesting security, the couple has yet to receive any formal protection. In their petition, they emphasized the gravity of the situation, particularly given Dania’s previous marriage to Dr. Aamir Liaquat, who passed away earlier this year under tragic circumstances.
The couple has even offered to finance their own security if necessary to ensure their safety. Justice Asim Hafeez, who is overseeing the case, has instructed the Deputy Commissioner and CPO of Multan to submit a response to the petition by September 17th, addressing their plea for protection.
Dania Shah publicly announced her marriage to Shahzad, a lawyer, last month. However, soon after their wedding celebrations, the couple began receiving the disturbing threats, prompting them to seek legal and governmental intervention for their safety.
