(Web Desk Monitoring) — Former Sindh governor Dr Ishratul Ibad has announced the formation of a new political party, following his recent declaration to re-enter the political arena after a prolonged hiatus.

Dr Ibad, a former prominent figure in the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), has been residing in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) since stepping down from his role as Sindh governor in 2016.

In his announcement, Dr. Ibad, who served as the governor for 14 years, expressed his intent to invite leaders from MQM-Pakistan (MQM-P) to join his new party, setting aside past differences. He emphasized the urgency of addressing the country’s challenges, stating that the current government has limited time, a sentiment that has been dismissed by ministers who are confident in completing their five-year term.

BMI, a research firm under Fitch Solutions, has also projected that the coalition government led by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif may face significant instability in the next year and a half due to economic challenges.

Dr Ibad voiced concerns over the worsening political and economic conditions in Pakistan, warning that the situation has reached critical levels. He highlighted the deteriorating security situation and stressed the need for strict accountability measures to combat corruption and ensure economic growth. He emphasized that not only corrupt individuals but also those failing to adhere to merit should be held accountable, warning that failure in governance could lead to further deterioration of the country’s situation.
