ISLAMABAD (Daily Point) — In a standoff between the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), a colossal corruption scandal worth Rs. 69 billion has surfaced within the CDA’s Land Department.
Sources reveal that the federal authority has seized control of 1500 files from the CDA’s Land Department and adamantly refused the civic authority’s pleas for their return.
In a letter addressed to the DG FIA, Chairman CDA Anwar ul Haq has urgently appealed to expedite the inquiry and urged the prompt return of the records to the CDA.
Contrarily, the FIA has rebuffed both requests, asserting that their investigation will proceed according to the standard procedure.
It’s important to highlight that the federal authority has been actively probing a staggering corruption scandal amounting to 69 billion rupees within the CDA’s Land Department for the past three months.
Furthermore, in the wake of the corruption scandal, the CDA has taken swift action by removing Member State and other officials from their positions. Chairman Anwar ul Haq had previously approached the FIA to initiate an investigation into the matter.
