(Web Desk Monitoring) — The government has decided to eliminate the Saturday weekly off for all public schools and educational institutions in Islamabad.
A notification from the Ministry of Education announced that starting August 10, Saturday will no longer be a holiday for government educational institutions in the federal capital.
According to the notification, two additional classes focusing on Language and Mathematics will be scheduled on Saturdays. However, attendance for these classes will be optional for students.
This decision follows reports from June that the federal government was considering abolishing the Saturday weekly off to reinstate a six-day work week in government offices. Sources indicated that the Cabinet Division had sought input from various ministries, which would be presented to the federal cabinet for a final decision regarding the weekly off days.
