(Web Desk) — Tourists visiting Dubai on a visit visa are advised to carry at least 3,000 Emirati dirhams in cash, have a valid return ticket, and provide proof of accommodation before boarding their flight to the United Arab Emirates, according to a report by Khaleej Times.
Tourism agencies have noted that authorities are strictly enforcing these entry requirements to ensure compliance. Some passengers have reported being stopped at Indian airports and prevented from boarding their flights to Dubai due to failure to meet these criteria.
“Travelers to Dubai must have a valid visa with a passport valid for at least six months and a confirmed return ticket,” stated Firoz Maliyakkal, the founder and CEO of Tahira Tours and Travels. Authorities are also checking to ensure that travelers have sufficient funds to support their stay in Dubai. This requirement stipulates carrying the equivalent of at least 3,000 Emirati dirhams in cash or on a credit card.
Additionally, travelers must provide valid proof of accommodation, which can be an address of a relative or friend’s home, or a hotel booking confirmation. “Airport checks are being conducted to safeguard travelers arriving in Dubai. There have been many cases of overstaying. This step by the authorities will positively impact the tourism sector of the emirate,” said Libin Varghese of Rooh Travel and Tourism.
Instances have been reported of travelers being stranded at Dubai’s airports due to a lack of necessary documentation. For example, on May 20, Indian tourist Abhishek was not permitted to board his Spice Jet flight to Dubai from Cochin International Airport. Abhishek, who was planning to visit his brother-in-law Bijesh in Dubai, lost the money he spent on the flight.
Airline representatives informed Bijesh that they could not assist, as it was Abhishek’s responsibility to meet all entry conditions. Consequently, Abhishek is now arranging additional funds and booking new tickets to attempt another trip to Dubai.
