(Web Desk Monitoring) — A day after clarifying his party’s stance on political dialogues, former president and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Dr Arif Alvi has claimed that the incarcerated party founder Imran Khan is being pressured to “strike a deal and leave the country.”

Speaking to journalists in Faisalabad on Wednesday, Alvi stated that Khan rejected the offer and decided not to leave the country “at any cost.”

The former president predicted that those conspiring to sentence Khan — the former prime minister — would ultimately face complete failure.

Commenting on dialogue offers, Alvi said that his party is prepared to hold talks with “stakeholders but not with the non-stakeholders.” He urged the stakeholders to let go of hatred and embrace compassion.

Alvi also mentioned that stakeholders should not fear any risks after the PTI founder’s release. He demanded the release of the former prime minister, the upholding of the law in the country, and the restoration of the party’s mandate.

Furthermore, Alvi criticized the current rulers, stating that they were as “powerless” as they came into power through “Form 47” and lacked the “authority” to make decisions.

Yesterday, he asserted that his party would engage in dialogue with those who hold real decision-making power.

He made these remarks in response to a question about the impression that the incarcerated, ousted PM, who was removed from power via a parliamentary vote in April 2022, was not in favor of holding dialogue with his political opponents to bring stability to the country.

The statement followed multiple calls from the incumbent government urging the embattled PTI to hold talks to find a solution to end the political crisis. However, the former ruling party has yet to provide a clear response.

During a press conference in Lahore, Alvi also expressed his disillusionment, stating that he has “lost all hope as accountability is impossible in Pakistan.”
