Individuals who abandoned the party will not be considered for PTI tickets: Barrister Gohar

Barrister Gohar PTI Tickets

LAHORE (Daily Point) — PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan said that leaders of the party who publicly disassociated through press conferences would not receive election tickets on Wednesday, as reported by The News.

Speaking to the media outside Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi, Barrister Gohar stated that the PTI was unwavering in its decision not to grant tickets to those who held press conferences, regardless of the number of individuals involved.

He conveyed that PTI founder and former Prime Minister Imran Khan had directed the party to prepare for the upcoming general elections in 2024.

Regarding the Supreme Court’s order concerning Shah Mahmood Qureshi, the PTI chairman asserted that it was the responsibility of the Election Commission to ensure its implementation. He mentioned that the commission had requested the party to submit an application regarding the senior PTI leader and other instances where party leaders and activists were targeted.

Barrister Gohar informed the commission about the Peshawar High Court (PHC) order and urged it to upload the certificate of PTI’s intra-party elections, assuring the commission of cooperation in the investigation. He emphasized that only the Supreme Court had the authority to revoke a party’s election symbol, likening it to the dissolution of the party.

On December 26, PTI Punjab Acting President Hammad Azhar commented that the decision on the return of individuals who had parted ways with the party through press conferences would be personally made by PTI founder Imran Khan on a case-by-case basis. Azhar noted that the majority of those who held press conferences wished to return to the party.
