Japan has implemented significant revisions to its visa regulations, allowing international students increased opportunities for employment in the country, as reported by VisaGuide.
Under the updated rules, foreign students who complete their education at government technical schools are now permitted to work in fields unrelated to their majors, providing them with more flexibility in their career choices, according to Kyodo News.
Previously, international students faced the prospect of returning to their home countries if they couldn’t secure employment directly aligned with their acquired skills or knowledge.
The Immigration Services Agency of Japan is introducing specialized programs and practical training opportunities in collaboration with state-designated technical schools to facilitate students’ transition into the workforce.
Furthermore, the Japanese government has expanded the eligibility criteria for international students to stay and work in the country, particularly under the “designated activities” visa category. Traditionally limited to graduates from universities or graduate schools, this visa will now be accessible to students with advanced Japanese language skills and educational accomplishments equivalent to a bachelor’s degree, opening up a broader spectrum of employment possibilities for eligible candidates.
