(Web Desk) — Jennifer Lopez has reportedly filed for divorce from Ben Affleck, marking an unexpected turn in their relationship. The singer and actress, who married the filmmaker in 2022, cited April 2024 as the official date of their separation in the legal documents.
According to TMZ, Lopez filed the paperwork herself in L.A. County Superior Court, opting to go without legal representation. This self-filed approach, known as filing “pro per,” suggests Lopez handled the process independently.
Notably, the couple did not sign a prenuptial agreement, which means any assets or income accumulated during their two-year marriage are considered community property. Despite this, Lopez is not seeking spousal support and has requested the judge to deny any such support for Affleck as well.
This news comes just months after Lopez publicly expressed her deep love for Affleck, calling him her “forever” partner. In an interview with Zane Lowe ahead of her album release This Is Me…Now, Lopez reflected on their relationship, saying, “We captured me at this moment in time when I was reunited with the love of my life, and we decided we were going to be together forever.”
Lopez added that the central theme of her earlier album, This Is Me…Then, was about the reality of true love, stating, “This love exists. This is a real love.”
