(Web Desk) — Apple has officially announced its latest flagship smartphones, the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max, boasting larger screens, advanced camera systems, and enhanced performance.
The new models, set to launch on September 20, feature a durable titanium design and are powered by the next-generation A18 Pro chip.
iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max: Bigger Screens and Enhanced Displays The iPhone 16 Pro comes with a 6.3-inch display, while the iPhone 16 Pro Max features a 6.9-inch screen — the largest ever on an iPhone, according to Apple’s announcement. Both models are equipped with Super Retina XDR displays, incorporating Always-On and ProMotion technologies, surrounded by Apple’s thinnest borders yet.
“Powered by the faster, more efficient A18 Pro chip and built for Apple Intelligence, the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max are the most advanced iPhones we’ve ever made,” said Greg Joswiak, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing. Joswiak emphasized that customers looking for the ultimate iPhone experience will benefit from the larger displays, upgraded camera system, and extended battery life.
Revolutionary Camera Features: 4K120 Dolby Vision and Camera Control A standout feature of the iPhone 16 Pro models is the new Camera Control system, which integrates hardware and software for more intuitive control over the camera settings. This system includes a tactile switch, force sensor, and capacitive sensor for enhanced interaction.
Both models feature a 48MP Fusion camera with a faster quad-pixel sensor, allowing for 4K video recording at 120 frames per second in Dolby Vision — the highest resolution and frame rate combination ever available on an iPhone. The phones also include a 48MP Ultra Wide camera and a 5x Telephoto camera, ensuring versatile photography options.
Apple has also enhanced the audio experience with four studio-quality microphones for more realistic sound recording. Additionally, the new Audio Mix feature, powered by machine learning, allows users to adjust sound elements after recording, making it possible to isolate specific sounds such as voices or ambient noise.
A18 Pro Chip and Advanced Performance The new A18 Pro chip, built on second-generation 3-nanometer technology, powers the iPhone 16 Pro models. Apple claims it provides exceptional efficiency and supports advanced gaming capabilities, including hardware-accelerated ray tracing that is twice as fast as the previous generation.
For safety and communication, the iPhone 16 series expands satellite connectivity, allowing messaging in areas without cellular or Wi-Fi coverage. A new feature, Emergency SOS Live Video, enables users to share live video with emergency dispatchers during critical situations.
Sustainability and Pricing Apple has also made environmental strides with the iPhone 16 Pro models, incorporating over 25 percent recycled materials. This includes 100 percent recycled aluminum in the internal structural frame and at least 80 percent recycled steel in various components.
Prices for the iPhone 16 Pro start at AED4,299, while the iPhone 16 Pro Max begins at AED5,099. Both models are available in four finishes: black titanium, natural titanium, white titanium, and desert titanium, with storage options ranging from 128GB to 1TB.
Pre-orders begin on September 13, with the devices available in over 58 countries starting September 20. iOS 18, the operating system powering the new devices, will be available as a free update on September 16. Apple is also launching a range of accessories, including new cases and a MagSafe Charger that supports faster wireless charging up to 25W.
