LAHORE (Daily Point) — In a recent economic overhaul in Lahore, the Punjab government has introduced several changes, including a notable hike in toll taxes for the Lahore Ring Road.

This decision follows the upward trends in car prices, petrol rates, and license fees. The Lahore Ring Road Authority has declared a 20% escalation in toll taxes, impacting various vehicles, ranging from private cars to heavy trucks.

The revised toll tax rates are as follows:

  1. Private cars and jeeps will now pay Rs. 60 per trip, up from the previous Rs. 50, indicating a Rs. 10 increase.
  2. Passenger vans and coasters will experience an increment to Rs. 120 from Rs. 100, marking a Rs. 20 rise.
  3. Toll tax for passenger buses has been raised by Rs. 50, establishing the new rate at Rs. 300 compared to the earlier Rs. 250.
  4. Loader trucks, pick-ups, and dumpers will witness a surge in toll tax from Rs. 300 to Rs. 360, a Rs. 60 increase.
  5. Heavy vehicles face the most substantial hike, with their toll tax rising to Rs. 600 from Rs. 500, reflecting a Rs. 100 increase.

Additionally, the Lahore Ring Road Southern Loop 3 project is anticipated to conclude within the next five months. Previously entangled in legal challenges, the project has now overcome these obstacles, allowing for its progress.

Passing through Bahria Town, the Ring Road Southern Loop 3 has garnered significant support from the housing society. Once completed, it is expected to alleviate traffic congestion for travelers from South Punjab to Lahore, providing relief for Thokar and Canal Road. Residents of housing schemes around Multan Road are also poised to benefit from this project.
