LAHORE (Daily Point) — As per the directive from the Caretaker Federal Minister of Health, the prices of four essential medicines utilized for patients in Intensive Care Units (ICUs) have been lowered, as reported by private TV channel on Wednesday.

The Ministry of Health spokesperson announced that the federal cabinet has approved a reduction in the prices of vital medicines employed in ICU wards across the country.

The spokesperson highlighted that the price of colistimethate sodium, a medication used to treat specific bacterial infections, has been slashed by 55 to 65 percent nationwide. Furthermore, there has been a significant decrease in the prices of medical injections containing 1 million units, dropping from Rs 2,987 to Rs 1,036.

Similarly, the cost of 2 million units has seen a notable decline, decreasing from Rs 4,564 to Rs 1,737. Additionally, the price for 3 million units of the injection has witnessed a noteworthy reduction, falling from Rs 5,855 to Rs 2,591.

Despite these changes, the Health Ministry remains committed to addressing the issue of counterfeit and unregistered medicines, signaling continued efforts in that regard.
