Nawaz Sharif, the President of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N), condemned the policies of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government, accusing them of causing record-high inflation and harming the livelihoods of Pakistan’s poor while speaking at a PML-N parliamentary meeting in Murree.

He urged PTI founder Imran Khan not to blame PML-N for damaging democracy, asserting his party’s innocence in that regard.

Sharif expressed no animosity or desire for revenge despite facing threats such as having his prison cell’s air conditioning removed during Khan’s tenure. He criticized Khan for his perceived anger-driven behaviour without directly mentioning his name.

Advocating for an investigation into historical actions, Sharif referenced the Charter of Democracy signed with former premier Benazir Bhutto, stressing the importance of upholding democratic principles.

He commended the efforts of the federal and Punjab governments, led by Shehbaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz, in reducing inflation and emphasized the need for lower energy tariffs and food prices. Sharif praised Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for prioritizing relief for the masses, citing his previous efforts in resolving power outages and reducing electricity tariffs.

Additionally, Sharif lauded Shahid Khaqan Abbasi’s resilience during imprisonment and his unwavering support during challenging times.
