(Web Desk Monitoring) — Oxford University and the Government of Balochistan have signed an agreement to launch a new scholarship initiative aimed at Pakistani students, as reported by 24NewsHD TV channel.

The signing ceremony for the Oxford Pakistan Program, attended by Sarfraz Ahmed Bugti, highlighted the scholarship’s potential to bridge the educational gap and promote higher education in Balochistan.

Mir Sarfraz Bugti, the first Chief Minister of Balochistan to address Oxford’s Lady Margaret Hall, emphasized the importance of this initiative. Lady Margaret Hall is notable for being the alma mater of Benazir Bhutto, the only Muslim world leader with a portrait displayed there. The event saw the attendance of 150 delegates, including prominent figures like Malala Yousafzai, Senator Anwaarul Haq Kakar, Aamir Ibrahim, Mohammad Khishgi, Farooq Sheikh, and Professor Kamal Munir.

Bugti remarked, “The students of Balochistan will now have the opportunity to receive an education at an institution where many great personalities, including the martyred Benazir Bhutto, studied.” He stressed that this initiative would align the local needs of Balochistan with global educational standards, addressing disparities and enhancing the connection between local aspirations and international academic excellence.

He further highlighted that this scholarship represents a significant commitment to the educational transformation and empowerment of Balochistan’s youth. Bugti noted the critical role of higher education in strengthening democracy and fostering social progress, and how this program will be a milestone in cultivating future leaders from Balochistan.

“This is not just financial aid, but a means of empowering young people from Balochistan,” Bugti elaborated, underlining the broader impact of the scholarship beyond financial support.

The new scholarship program is set to provide talented Baloch students with opportunities to pursue higher education at one of the world’s leading universities, thereby fostering educational and professional growth.
