In celebration of Pakistan’s 77th Independence Day on August 14, the federal government has unveiled a special postage stamp titled “Resolve for Stability,” honoring Arshad Nadeem, the Pakistani javelin star who ended the country’s 32-year Olympic medal drought.
Nadeem, at 27, made history by setting a new Olympic record with a throw of 92.97 meters at the Paris Olympics, securing a gold medal and inspiring a new generation of athletes. His achievement marked Pakistan’s first individual gold medal in javelin and the country’s first gold in 40 years. Prior to Nadeem’s win, Pakistan had only secured gold medals in field hockey in 1960, 1968, and 1984.
The stamp’s theme, “Resolve for Stability,” reflects the government’s dedication to the nation’s progress and stability. The design also features the Minar-e-Pakistan, symbolizing Pakistan’s historic struggle for independence.
