(Web Desk) — Pakistan summoned Germany’s senior-most diplomat to protest an attack on its consulate in Frankfurt by extremists, ARY News reported.

The attack, carried out by Afghan nationals, involved stone-throwing and the removal of the Pakistani flag. Despite being granted permission for a peaceful protest, the demonstration escalated into violence, damaging the consulate.

German authorities have detained two Afghan nationals and are using video footage to identify and arrest others involved.

In response to the incident, Pakistan formally lodged a protest, calling for enhanced security measures to protect its diplomatic facilities. The senior German diplomat assured that all necessary steps would be taken to safeguard Pakistani diplomats and properties.

The Foreign Office (FO) condemned the attack and criticized German authorities for failing to protect the consulate. The FO emphasized that the attack violated the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations, which obligates Germany to ensure the safety of consular premises and staff. Pakistan urged Berlin to enhance security at its diplomatic missions and hold those responsible for the attack accountable.
