Pakistani freelancers can generate $10bln in tech exports

(Daily Point) — Interim Federal Minister for IT and Telecommunication Dr Umar Saif is spearheading a significant initiative aimed at boosting the country’s technology-related service exports.

The objective is to achieve an annual revenue of $10 billion by facilitating one million freelancers in earning approximately $30 per day. Over the next two to three months, the government plans to provide financial support and shared workspace facilities to support this endeavor.

Pakistan is also in discussions with PayPal to streamline payment processes for its workforce, and they have ambitions to implement 5G technology within the next eight months.

It is pertinent to mention here that Pakistan’s technology sector generates approximately $2.5 billion in annual revenue through international service sales.

The government is actively taking measures to enhance this figure. Dr Saif stressed the significance of securing investment capital and fostering collaborative work environments in private enterprises as crucial elements for the success of this ambitious plan. If successful, this initiative holds the potential to significantly bolster Pakistan’s economy.
