(Daily Point) — The frequency of slip incidents involving PIA air hostesses and cabin crew has seen a notable rise, creating an atmosphere of uncertainty around the national airline, especially in light of the ongoing privatization process.
In 2022, five crew members experienced slips, a number that increased to seven in 2023 during overseas flights, with a significant portion of these incidents occurring in Canada. PIA acknowledges that none of the air hostesses who slipped were brought back to Pakistan. The first reported incident of 2024 involved air hostess Faiza Mukhtar, who allegedly slipped on a PIA Toronto flight.
The awareness of the incident arose when Faiza Mukhtar failed to report to the staff. PIA spokesperson confirmed that departmental disciplinary action has been initiated against her, and the national carrier possesses affidavits from other air hostesses, with plans to involve the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).
Previously, PIA authorities attributed the slipping trend among cabin crew to what they claimed were lenient Canadian immigration rules, suggesting that these regulations indirectly encourage such incidents.
