Play it once: WhatsApp introduces single-use option for listening to voice messages

NEW YORK (Daily Point) — WhatsApp, owned by Meta, asserts its position as the most secure platform for online conversations and consistently enhances its security features. In its latest move to reinforce this claim, WhatsApp has introduced the “view once” option for voice messages.

Following the successful implementation of the “view once” feature for photos to safeguard image sharing, the messaging platform has extended the same functionality to voice notes.

Announcing the update on its official X account, WhatsApp declared, “Say it once, play it once—now you can select ‘view once’ when sending a voice note for an added layer of protection.”

Accompanying the announcement was a slideshow video providing a detailed explanation of the new feature.

By opting for the “view once” feature for voice notes, users gain greater choice and control over their shared content. This ensures a private sharing experience, as recipients are no longer able to save, forward, or replay the voice notes beyond the initial viewing.

This additional layer of security is particularly beneficial for the transfer of sensitive information, allowing users to share confidential details with peace of mind, knowing that the information cannot be saved or forwarded to a third party.
