Plot to move my case to military court, use Faiz as approver, Imran claims

Imran Khan military court faiz hameed

(Web Desk Monitoring) — Former premier Imran Khan, currently imprisoned in Adiala Jail, has alleged a plot to transfer his case to a military court. In a conversation with journalists, Khan accused Lt. Gen. (retd) Faiz Hameed of being manipulated as a “pawn” to fabricate evidence against him, local media reported.

Khan claimed that Hameed’s recent arrest was a “drama” staged to frame him and justify shifting his case to a military tribunal. According to Khan, the authorities aim to turn Hameed into an approver because they realize the existing cases against him are “weak” and unlikely to hold up in court.

Khan further alleged that Hameed was under pressure to provide a statement implicating him in the May 9 incident, suggesting that the authorities are trying to force a confession about a supposed “conspiracy.” He questioned the logic behind arresting Hameed if he had genuinely issued the arrest order and stolen CCTV footage, arguing that a true conspirator wouldn’t call for a judicial commission.

Khan also accused the current regime of orchestrating a “regime change” specifically targeting him. He expressed disbelief at the accusations against Hameed, calling it “shameful” to suggest that Hameed was issuing instructions to Bushra Bibi.

Khan voiced concerns about the possible consequences of Justice Qazi Faez Isa’s departure from the Supreme Court, fearing it could expose alleged electoral fraud against him. He also accused former Army Chief General (retd) Qamar Javed Bajwa of betraying him by striking a deal with Nawaz Sharif and removing Hameed from his position.

When asked about his previous defense of Hameed and his current worries about him becoming a witness, Khan insisted he was not concerned about Hameed’s testimony. He defended Hameed’s three-year tenure negotiating with the Taliban and argued that he shouldn’t have been removed. Khan revealed that he had personally pleaded with Bajwa not to remove Hameed.

In response to a question about the impact of a potential military trial on his party, Khan dismissed concerns about internal divisions within the PTI, asserting that the party is growing stronger despite the challenges.

Khan also reflected on his leadership during his time as Prime Minister, acknowledging difficulties in appointing suitable individuals to key positions, including the Army Chief and DG ISI. He attributed these challenges to General Bajwa’s betrayal, claiming that despite his support for Bajwa, he was ultimately backstabbed.

During the interaction, Khan’s conversation with journalists was interrupted several times by noise from the prison’s family area. The disruptions forced Khan to pause three times and eventually cut the interview short. Despite the interruptions, Khan managed to answer a few more questions before leaving.
