(Web Desk Monitoring) — Lahore Police on Thursday arrested Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) worker Aneela Jutt, also known as ‘Neeli Pari’, for assaulting and torturing Tahir Anjum, President of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Cultural Wing.
Deputy Inspector General Operations Faisal Kamran stated that the police raided a house in the Lohari area and apprehended Aneela.
The incident occurred on Wednesday when the stage actor Tahir Anjum was passing by a PTI hunger strike camp outside the Punjab Assembly. The camp was set up by PTI activists in support of their leaders. Aneela, enraged, attacked Anjum, ripping the sleeve of his shirt and attempting to drag him out of his vehicle while cursing and pounding him.
Aneela alleged that Anjum had posted derogatory videos maligning incarcerated PTI founder Imran Khan, labeling him a “terrorist.” Videos of the incident circulated on social media, showing Aneela hurling abuses at Anjum as he struggled to remain inside his car, with his shirt sleeve in tatters.
Despite intervention by police officers and bystanders, Aneela continued her assault, resisting the security personnel’s efforts to restrain her. Eventually, Anjum managed to escape the scene.
Speaking to journalists afterward, Anjum expressed outrage over the incident, noting that his children were also in the car. He condemned the PTI workers for their “hooliganism” and likened their actions to those of a “terrorist outfit.” Anjum denied posting any videos against the PTI founder or engaging in any illegal activities that would have provoked such an attack.
The incident occurred outside the Punjab Assembly building, where PTI is holding its second token hunger strike protest after a similar one in Islamabad, demanding the release of arrested PTI leaders.
