(Web Desk Monitoring) — Mumtaz Mustafa, a Member of the National Assembly (MNA) from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), tragically passed away on Monday due to a heart attack in Islamabad.

Mustafa, who represented the southern Punjab district of Rahim Yar Khan, was elected from the NA-171 constituency during the general elections held on February 8.

At the time of his passing, Mustafa was residing at the Parliament Lodges in Islamabad. Following the sad news, the National Assembly convened a session to offer condolences, during which proceedings were adjourned out of respect. Speaker of the National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq announced that there would be no clapping or applause during the session as a mark of respect for Mustafa.

Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) lawmaker Khawaja Izhaar ul Haq expressed concern over the delayed response in getting medical assistance to Mustafa. He mentioned that an ambulance could not reach the Parliament Lodges promptly because other members’ cars were blocking access. Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar paid tribute to Mustafa, describing him as a respected lawyer and an exceptional human being. He offered prayers for Mustafa’s soul and comfort for his grieving family.

Several other members of the National Assembly also expressed their sorrow and extended their condolences, joining in prayers for the departed soul.
