PTI submits election symbol request to ECP

PTI-electoral-challenges-election

ISLAMABAD (Daily Point) — Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Monday formally requested the prompt allocation of the “Bat” as its designated election symbol from the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP). This demand was put forth following a meeting of the party’s core committee.

Underscoring the urgency of the matter, the committee emphasized the symbolic importance of the “bat” as a representation for millions of voters, highlighting its integral role in PTI’s political identity and the democratic landscape of the nation.

The committee expressed satisfaction with the Peshawar High Court’s recent decisions on appeals related to intra-party elections and stressed the crucial need for the timely allotment of the election symbol. Concerns were raised regarding potential delays in this process, as they could present challenges to the party’s electoral rights and the strength of Pakistan’s democratic institutions.

Strongly opposing any attempts, whether technical or otherwise, to hinder or strip PTI of its symbol, the committee viewed such actions as detrimental to the democratic process. They affirmed their steadfast resistance against any partisan or unjust efforts aimed at compromising the party’s rights.

During the meeting, there was a collective agreement to intensify efforts in preparing the public for the upcoming elections, with a particular emphasis on conducting peaceful campaigns as a prerequisite for the electoral process.
