ISLAMABAD (Daily Point) — In an latest announcement, the National Highways and Motorways Police (NHMP) has introduced a new fine that has left many confused, starting from January 1, 2024, individuals driving motor vehicles without a certificate of No-Fault Insurance coverage will face a fine of Rs1,000.
However, the NHMP failed to clarify what a No-Fault Insurance certificate entails, leaving motorists uncertain about the necessary procedures for obtaining it. In response to the announcement, netizens are calling on the motorways police to provide proper education about this certificate before imposing fines.
This latest announcement follows a series of fine increases for various offenses announced earlier this month by the NHMP. The fine for using HID lights has been raised from Rs300 to Rs2,000. Motorcyclists caught performing stunts will now face a hefty fine of Rs5,000, a significant increase from the previous Rs300 fine.
Moreover, fines for driving without a helmet have been elevated by Rs800, reaching Rs1,000, compared to the earlier fine of Rs200. Starting January 1, 2024, over-speeding vehicles will also be subjected to increased fines.
As confusion looms over the No-Fault Insurance certificate, the NHMP is under pressure to provide clarity and ensure that motorists are well-informed before the implementation of the enhanced fines.
