(Web Desk) — The Sindh government has declared a public holiday across the province on Tuesday, August 20, to commemorate the urs of the revered Sufi poet, Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai.

According to an official notification, all government offices, educational institutions, autonomous and semi-autonomous bodies, corporations, and local councils under the jurisdiction of the Sindh government will be closed on the 14th of Safar, which corresponds to August 20.

However, essential services will remain operational and are exempt from this closure.

The annual urs celebration begins every year on the 14th of Safar, the second month of the Islamic Hijra calendar, and extends over three days. The event will feature poetry marathons, literature conferences, and various other activities to honor the legacy of Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai.
