Public holidays

(Web Desk) — The federal government has declared a public holiday nationwide for Eid Miladun Nabi (PBUH), which is observed on the 12th of Rabiul Awwal.

For the year 2024, the government has included this date as a public holiday in its official calendar, setting it for September 16, 2024.

However, the final confirmation of the date will depend on the sighting of the moon for the new Islamic month. The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee is scheduled to convene on Wednesday, September 4, to determine the start of Rabiul Awwal. Should the moon be sighted on that day, the first of Rabiul Awwal will be on September 5, making September 16 the date for 12 Rabiul Awwal.

Eid Miladun Nabi, which commemorates the birth of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), is celebrated every year on the 12th of Rabiul Awwal. The occasion is marked with great religious enthusiasm across the country, with streets adorned in festive decorations. Large processions are typically organized in major cities, where participants wave flags and chant in devotion to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
