Reasons behind ECP’s delisting of 13 political parties explained

Election ECP political parties

ISLAMABAD (Daily Point) — The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) took the decision to delist 13 political parties due to their failure to conduct the mandated intra-party elections on Friday.

The ECP, in a reserved judgment concerning 15 political parties, annulled the registration of 13 parties, while granting permission for the participation of two parties, namely Jamiat Ulema e Pakistan (JUP) and Pakistan Muslim League Jinnah, in the upcoming elections.

Expressing disappointment in its verdict, the ECP cited the lack of seriousness exhibited by political parties in fulfilling the requirement of conducting intra-party elections. The delisted political parties include All Pakistan Minority Alliance, All Pakistan Tehreek, Awami Party Pakistan, Bahawalpur National Awami Party, Sab Ka Pakistan, National Peace Council Party, Pakistan National Muslim League, Pakistan Aman Party, Pakistan Brabri Party, Masihi Awami Party, Pakistan Quomi Yekjehti Party, Sunni Tehreek, and Nizam e Mustafa Party. This move reflects the ECP’s commitment to upholding democratic processes within political entities.
