Channel 5 Reporter Sadaf Naeem tragically passes away during interview attempt with Imran Khan
LAHORE (Daily Point) – It has been a year since the untimely departure of Channel 5 reporter Sadaf Naeem, who tragically lost her life while chasing her dream of interviewing the former prime minister Imran Khan. Her desire to speak with the prominent politician was so strong that it ultimately cost her life.
Sadaf Naeem’s mother, speaking exclusively to Daily Point, shared the heart-wrenching details of her daughter’s final moments. She revealed, “On that fateful Sunday, I had advised Sadaf not to go out, but Sadaf had pleaded, saying, Mama, please let me go today.”
On the same day the previous year, Imran Khan had planned to travel from Lahore to Islamabad to stage a sit-in. At that time, the government led by Imran Khan was ousted, and Shehbaz Sharif democratically assumed the role of the prime minister. Sadaf Naeem, a dedicated journalist and a mother of two, ventured out to cover this significant event.
In her pursuit of reporting, Ms Naeem attempted to climb onto Imran Khan’s container but unfortunately failed, falling beneath the container. In a tragic turn of events, she lost her life while fulfilling her journalistic duty and her longstanding desire to interview Imran Khan.
Despite the government providing assistance to the grieving family in the wake of this incident, Sadaf Naeem’s parents, when interviewed by Daily Point, could not hold back their tears as they recalled their beloved daughter. Her mother expressed her profound sense of loss, saying, “She has not forgotten us, she went away, but she hasn’t returned. It may have appeared to be an accident, but the toll it took on so many lives is beyond imagination.”
