(Web Desk Monitoring) — A Saudi Airlines flight from Riyadh encountered a fire incident in its landing gear while landing at Bacha Khan International Airport in Peshawar on Thursday. Swift action by airport authorities averted a potential disaster.
The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) reported that air traffic controllers observed smoke and sparks coming from the aircraft’s left-side landing gear as it touched down. They promptly alerted the pilots and informed the airport’s fire and rescue services.
“The fire tenders acted swiftly and controlled the fire in the landing gear, preventing a major accident,” stated CAA spokesperson Saifullah. He confirmed that all 276 passengers and 21 crew members were safely evacuated using inflatable slides.
Video footage captured passengers disembarking the aircraft through the emergency slides.
Peshawar airport officials have confirmed that the airport remains operational, with all flights continuing as scheduled.
