LAHORE (Daily Point) – In a startling revelation, former PM’s Adviser on Accountability Shahzad Akbar has confessed to fabricating cases against the leadership of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).
During an interview with senior journalist and anchor Farrukh Shahbaz Warraich, Akbar disclosed that the cases brought against key PML-N figures during the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) era were baseless and unfounded.
Akbar specifically mentioned that the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) cases against prominent PML-N leaders such as Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Miftah Ismail, and Ahsan Iqbal were without merit. He described the accountability measures taken during his tenure as futile, admitting that they had no factual basis.
Further elaborating, Akbar revealed that the merits of these cases were frequently discussed in NAB meetings, where high-ranking officials, including the Director-General of Inter-Services Intelligence (DGISI), were present. According to him, it was consistently acknowledged in these meetings that the cases were frivolous and lacked substantial evidence.
