LAHORE (Daily Point) – Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif asserted that the party’s primary focus is on self-improvement rather than engaging in rivalries with other political entities.

In an exclusive talk with Shehbaz Sharif on the “Farrukh Warraich Show” during a special interview, Mr Sharif stressed the importance of healthy political dialogue and constructive criticism for the betterment of the nation.

The veteran politician clarified, “PML-N is not competing with any party, but with itself.” He pointed out that the recent withdrawal of the bat symbol of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) by the court was not initiated by PML-N. He added that while the court removed the symbol, it is essential for political entities to engage in meaningful discourse without resorting to personal attacks.

During the interview, Shehbaz Sharif recalled the time when Bilawal Bhutto was a part of the cabinet, acknowledging the positive remarks Bilawal made about him. He expressed gratitude for the praise and underscored the importance of respectful conversations in politics.

“I thank them. Everyone has the right to have their own conversation, but still call me a happy understanding,” said the PML-N president. He also urged political leaders to adhere to the Charter of Democracy, a pact signed by his late brother Nawaz Sharif and Benazir Bhutto’s mother, the late Benazir Shaheed.

Referring to the Charter, he stated, “I think we should follow it and take good steps in this country. We should fully present our manifesto, fully present our position, fully criticize, but choose the words and have such weight in the words—shoot arrows at each other, those arrows are necessary, but there is no poison in them.”

The conversation delved into PML-N’s role during the challenging period of May 9, where Sharif claimed the party saved the country from default. He expressed confidence in the party’s future, predicting a majority in the upcoming elections, with Nawaz Sharif potentially becoming the prime minister for the fourth time.

As PML-N continues to navigate the political landscape, the emphasis on self-improvement and a commitment to constructive dialogue may shape its approach in the evolving political scenario.
