Shooting near mosque in Oman claims lives of two Pakistanis

(Web Desk) — In a rare security breach in one of the Middle East’s most stable countries, two Pakistanis were among four people killed by gunfire near a mosque in Muscat, Oman, the Omani police reported on Tuesday.

“The Royal Oman Police have responded to a shooting incident that occurred in the vicinity of a mosque in the Al-Wadi Al-Kabir area,” stated the police.

Law enforcement officials confirmed that all necessary security measures have been taken to manage the situation. Procedures are currently underway for evidence collection and investigation of the attack.

Pakistan’s Ambassador to Oman, Imran Chaudhry, announced that the Omani government confirmed four fatalities, including two Pakistanis. “I was present with the diplomatic staff at night,” Imran noted, adding that the Omani authorities are conducting a thorough investigation into the incident.
