(Web Desk) — Lahore is currently grappling with an intense heatwave, with temperatures soaring and the Meteorological Department predicting a peak of 43 degrees Celsius on Tuesday.
At the ground level, the heat feels even more oppressive, reaching up to 44 degrees Celsius, creating extremely hot and uncomfortable conditions for residents.
This prolonged heat spell is expected to continue until Friday, offering no immediate relief, according to the Meteorological Department.
Despite the scorching temperatures, there is hope for relief later in the week. Rain and thunderstorms are forecasted for Saturday and Sunday, potentially bringing a break from the relentless heat.
In related news, Karachi is also enduring a severe heatwave. The temperature is expected to reach up to 41 degrees Celsius on Tuesday, with the current temperature at 33 degrees Celsius and a high humidity level of 73%, making it feel like 39 degrees.
“The intensity of the heat in Lahore is at its peak, and residents are advised to take precautions,” warned meteorologists. The
current temperature in Lahore has already reached 37 degrees Celsius.
Looking ahead, there is optimism for a reduction in the heat intensity next week, providing some relief to Lahore’s residents.
However, until then, health experts advise staying indoors during peak heat hours, staying hydrated, and avoiding prolonged exposure to the sun to prevent heat-related illnesses.
Meanwhile, Karachi is also experiencing a severe heatwave, with temperatures soaring and humidity levels making conditions exceptionally hot and uncomfortable for residents. According to the Met Department, the maximum temperature is expected to reach up to 41 degrees Celsius on Tuesday, with the current temperature already at 33 degrees Celsius and a high humidity level of 73%, making it feel like 39 degrees.
However, the weather department predicts that sea breezes will resume in Karachi from Wednesday evening, and temperatures are likely to drop gradually from tomorrow.
Residents of both cities are advised to take necessary precautions to stay safe during this extreme weather.
