(WEB Desk) — Law enforcement authorities have detained the former Deputy Superintendent of Punjab Jails, who was transferred from Central Jail Adiala in June this year, on suspicion of serving as a “messenger” for the PTI founder, Imran Khan, according to local media reports on Wednesday.

Deputy Superintendent Judicial Tahir Siddique Shah assumed the role of security supervisor for Imran Khan after Muhammad Akram was removed from the position on June 20. Shah’s arrest marks a significant development, coming just two days after the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) announced the arrest of retired Lt. Gen. Faiz Hameed, the former head of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), on charges of violating the Army Act, with proceedings for a Field General Court Martial now underway.

Reports suggest that the former Deputy Superintendent of Adiala Jail was taken into custody from the jail colony and is currently under investigation for allegedly facilitating Imran Khan, who has been detained in the jail for over a year.
